Airways To Airways

Updated: Nov 5, 2020

Okay so a writer, I am not so please forgive me for any grammar or spelling mistakes. What I am though is passionate about making a difference to communities. So hopefully you will enjoy hearing about my adventures on the First Aid trail.

For the past 15 years I have worked as cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic, I had the time of my life. But I reached a point were I wanted to do something meaningful, I want my boys to be proud of their Mummy. For the past year I wanted to help communities through teaching CPR and raising money towards defibrillators for local areas. with the vision of the sessions being fun, because let's face it not many people get excited about first aid courses. So I did it, I am no longer in the Airways in the sky, but checking casualties Airways.

So far it has been really exciting. I feel rejuvenated as a person. I took myself back to education to qualify as First Aid Trainer. Which was not easy in lockdown with a 2 and 5 year old, let's just say there was a lot of Mr Tumble. Beginning this assignment in lockdown actually was the best thing that could of happened, as it made me use my brain and set myself goals. I felt like I was doing something productive, while in our lockdown bubble. The course took me 3 months to finish, But I did it and I am proud of myself!

So my plans for the future are:

-To start fundraising to flood the South East with defibrillators and building peoples confidence giving effective CPR and in using a defibrillator.

-To set up a First Responder community group in Horsted Keynes. This is when someone calls 999 from our village we will have a team of volunteers who will be the first on the scene to assist with first aid until the paramedics arrive.

-To build The First Aid Company to have a reputation for being fun, relaxed, modern and of a high standard.

I have fire in my belly and a genuine passion for first aid so fingers crossed that will transpire into my business. Thank you for reading my first ever blog.

Lucy.
